H1N1 Influenza update: October 2009
Grand River Hospital's emergency department is very busy with a high number of patients seeking care for influenza-like illness.
The vast majority of people with influenza can receive care at home and recover without hospitalization.
Before you come to the emergency department for care, please consider the following:
Visit the Region of Waterloo's pandemic influenza website at www.waterlooregionpandemic.ca for information on caring for yourself or a member of your family. Information on immunization clinics is also available on the same site.
If you feel your symptoms are not improving or are becoming worse, please speak with a registered nurse at TeleHealth Ontario (1-866-797-0000) or call your family physician. Please note that Grand River Hospital cannot provide medical advice over the phone.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we deal with the needs of our patients.
