World Health Organization - Health Promoting Hospital |

About The World Health Organization The World Health Organization's (WHO) definition of health promotion is: "…the process of enabling people to take control and improve their health." Health is more than the absence of disease but rather is seen as a resource for daily living. According to the WHO, a health promoting hospital "does not only provide high quality comprehensive medical and clinical services, but also promotes health and well-being to patients/visitors, staff, and to the community." Health promotion both incorporates and complements Grand River Hospital's mission and vision of Caring Together.
