Location

All inpatient childbirth services are located on Floor 4 (A and D wings) and outpatient services are located on Floor 3 (A-wing) of Grand River Hospital's KW site.

Tours of the Childbirth Unit

Visiting Hours: 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Our visiting hours were created with input from our new mothers and in consideration of their need for rest and time needed to learn about their baby. We ask that you share this information with your friends and relatives before you come to the hospital to ensure you receive the rest that you deserve.

*Please note; Visitors are limited to a maximum of two visitors per patient at a time and the only children permitted are siblings of the newborn.

Prenatal hospitalization:
8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Support person and/or one designated other. Children of the patient may visit for reasonable periods of time providing they are supervised at all times.

Labour and birth:
The designated partner / support person plus one other support person may be with the patient. The additional support person may rotate with one other support person. After birth, other family and friends who have been waiting in the family waiting room are welcome to visit for 10-15 minutes with the new family and are asked to return to visit during general visiting hours.

After baby is born:
The designated partner or support person may visit from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

If the mother is in a private room, the partner or support person can stay overnight to provide support and assistance with new mother and baby care. Siblings of the newborn may visit for reasonable periods of time providing they are supervised at all times. No other children (under 14 years) are permitted on the unit.

Visitors arriving outside visiting hours will be asked to come back at the specified hours.
