Location and Visiting Hours Children's Inpatient Unit The children's inpatient unit is currently located on the 3rd floor of the K-W Health Centre. Our care areas are located on 3A and 3D. Immediate family members (parents, grandparents and siblings) may visit any time. Other visitors are asked to come between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Visiting hours may be restricted slightly by the physician depending on the child's condition and type of care the child requires. We ask that individuals who have cold/flu symptoms not visit and that all visitors wash their hands upon entering and leaving the patient's room. Some patients will be isolated due to their diagnosis. We ask all visitors to check in at the desk before entering the child's room. Please remember that siblings who visit are the responsibility of the parent. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit The special care nursery is located on the 4th floor, C wing. We presently have limited space to support family -centered care or to expand when high volumes occur. We are anxiously awaiting reconstruction of our new units Looking to the Future. Parent Visiting It is very important that you spend time and participate in the care of your child. You are welcome at the hospital any time, for as long as you wish. However, you will be asked to leave during the nurses change of shift between 6:45 and 7:30am, and again between 6:45 and 7:30pm. During this time the nurses exchange important information about the care of each baby. Sibling Visiting It is important that the child's brothers and sisters visit but parents are responsible for supervising their children. To protect your child and other infants in the nursery from infections, children may not visit if they have been exposed to the following illnesses in the last two weeks: chickenpox, mumps, measles or skin rashes. Family and Friends Visiting The nursery should provide a quiet environment for your child to rest and grow.
