A study of the upper stomach and beginning of the Small Bowel. The patient drinks a Barium solution which enhances the stomach area and allows the Radiologist(X-ray Specialist)to study the stomach under X-ray guidance.

A study of the Large Bowel. Barium solution is introduced via a tube that is inserted into the rectum at the start of the examination. Barium is slowly advanced through the Large Bowel in combination with air, under the control of the attending Radiologist and X-ray guidance. This enables the Radiologist to visualize the Large Bowel. |

A study of the Urinary System (Kidneys, Ureters and Bladder). The patient will receive an injection, into a vein, of Contrast Media (X-ray Dye) and X-rays are taken at specific timed intervals in order to visualize the structure and function of the Urinary System. An explanation of the Xray study will be given prior to the start of the examination. A consent must be signed prior to the start. Minors and a family member must accompany patients who are unable to sign their own consent.

| Clear fluids only, nothing to eat the day of the examination. You will be admitted as a day patient, through outpatient admitting. Check with your doctor to see if blood thinners should be discontinued. Complete bed rest is required after the procedure for 6 to 8 hours. You will be monitored in the Medical Day Unit after the procedure until discharge. Please have someone drive you to the hospital. |

A study of the spinal canal by enhancing the fluid containing sac that surrounds the spinal cord with a Contrast Media(X-ray dye) A radiologist will insert a needle into the spinal space under X-ray guidance, Contrast Media is injected and X-rays are taken. The X-ray table may be tilted up and down during the procedure in order to move the fluid within the space.
