About Our Palliative Care Programs Grand River Hospital provides comfort and support to all patients suffering from cancer and other terminal illnesses. Whenever possible, patients are discharged back home with the assistance of caregivers from the Community Care Access Centre. Pain and Symptom Management The pain and symptom management department is a six-bed unit located at the Kitchener-Waterloo Health Centre. Patients with a diagnosis of cancer who require acute care interventions are admitted to this unit for investigation and symptom management.
