About Our Services

Medical Program

The medical program has more than 80 beds for adult patients requiring acute medical care, with 12 beds dedicated for stroke care. Patients on the medical unit have conditions that may need to be diagnosed, stabilized and treated. A number of health care professionals work together as a team to meet these needs.

Grand River Hospital is the District Stoke Center for Waterloo Region. The integrated stroke unit is located within the medical program. The integrated stroke unit is for those:

  • Recovering from a stroke
  • Who are at high risk for a stroke
  • Who experience stroke related complications

Mission

The medical program is committed to providing excellent patient and family care. Our multi-disciplinary team approach provides holistic, supportive, comprehensive care by respecting the diversity of patient and family needs.
