Endoscopy The gastrointestinal endoscopy unit operates weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you are booked for a colonoscopy you will have been given instructions on how to prepare for your procedure. It is very important that you follow the instructions, as your bowel must be clean for the physician to examine. If you are booked for a gastroscopy it is equally important to follow the fasting instructions, as your stomach must be empty. When you arrive for your appointment, you will enter the hospital through the main entrance located on Floor 3. Please report to patient registration on Floor 2 one hour before your scheduled procedure, to register. There is an information desk in the main lobby staffed by volunteers who will be glad to assist you if you require directions. Your appointment will take approximately 3 hours. Your ride may wait for you in the main lobby. If they prefer to leave, you will have access to a phone to call when you are ready to go home. |
