Introduction

Research & Performance Metrics Services was developed in 2001, and includes research, decision support and corporate clinical risk management. The integration of these three areas was based on the need to provide evidence-based information to Grand River Hospital.

We contribute to all aspects of research at Grand River Hospital, including study design, statistical analysis, and reporting of findings and support for other investigators. These activities also include evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of service provision at Grand River Hospital.

We provide the corporation with decision support information essential to strategic planning, benchmarking and indicator development. Key to providing timely information is the development and sustaining of an automated corporate dashboard.

We affect the safety of care provided to patients while in the hospital through our risk management activities. Each and every individual who affects patient care supports this function.

Mission and Vision:

Mission - To create and implement a structure that supports evidence based practice. This will be achieved through the initiation and facilitation of research, decision support and corporate clinical risk management activities to ultimately result in improved and safe patient care.

Vision - To optimize health services through excellence in research, decision support, and corporate risk management activities in collaboration with our health service partners.
