Visits from family and friends can make a significant contribution to your recovery. Information about affordable overnight accommodations for out-of-town family visitors can be found under Lodging Information. Freeport Health Centre Visitors including children may come and go at any time. However, the hospital does reserve the right to restrict visiting if necessary. Properly vaccinated pets are also welcome. Visitors requiring a wheelchair can sign one out from security located near the main entrance. For night access to the hospital by visitors, an entry telephone is located outside the main entrance. K-W Health Centre General visiting hours are from 1:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every day of the year. Visitors are limited to no more than two at a bedside at one time. Visitors to the recovery room are limited to parents of children undergoing surgery. An adult must accompany visiting children. On occasion, visitors may not be allowed in a particular unit and will be advised by nursing staff. Those experiencing cold or flu symptoms should not visit patients. During a declared flu outbreak, the hospital may restrict or cancel all visiting privileges. Children's Unit: Parents are welcome 24 hours a day. Siblings may visit if accompanied by an adult. For patients under the age of four, it is recommended that only parents and grandparents visit. Childbirth Unit: Partner/Support Person For post-partum patients only the designated partner/support person (person wearing ID band) may visit anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. If the woman is in a private room, the partner/support person may stay overnight. The role of the partner/support person who stays overnight is to provide support and assistance with new mother and baby care. Appropriate attire should be worn. Other Visitors In addition to the designated partner/support person, two additional people may visit between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Visitors may rotate as long as the maximum number of visitors does not exceed two (plus the designated support person). Additional visitors may wait on the 3rd floor at Tim Hortons. Siblings of the newborn may also visit between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. No other children (under the age of 14 years) are permitted to visit. Special Care Nursery: Immediate family members are welcome 24 hours a day. Other visitors should arrange visiting hours with the permission of the infant's parents. Children other than siblings are not permitted. Intensive Care Unit: Only two people may visit at any one time and visitors must be members of the immediate family. Visits are to be kept short (5-10 minutes) to allow for rest. All visitors must request to visit by using the phone in the hall outside the unit. Phone inquiries are welcome by calling (519) 749-4300, ext. 2631. We ask that one family member be designated to make phone inquiries and then tell other family members. Please do not visit between 6:45 and 7:45 a.m. and 6:45 and 7:45 p.m. as staff are changing shifts and outgoing nurses are reporting to incoming nurses. Coronary Care Unit: Visiting hours are 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Only two people may visit at any one time and visitors must be members of the immediate family.
